We design communication programs that build strong relationships among communities, agencies, and industry
Before risk communication found its way onto every PR website's list of services, we logged years of experience doing this work. We are industry established as a technical staff of risk, crisis and community educators. We have worked on risk communication projects around the world, with our most of our work taking place in California, Canada and Indonesia.
We believe that trust and credibility are enhanced by a thorough evaluation of community concerns in order to develop a dialogue. Our principals hold academic and advisory appointments at University of California Los Angeles and University of California Irvine.
Risk, Crisis and Media Communication Training
Words are powerful. So are emotions. When the two meet, they can build bridges or destroy best efforts. Our trainings are designed to help our clients achieve the former! Our customized trainings include real-life case studies, hands-on practice, videotaping of participants, and discussions of risk perception, community outrage, and outreach strategies.
We offer trainings in:
Multicultural Community Outreach
Communication is hard enough when everyone shares the same language, experiences and cultural backgrounds. When technical material is involved, it makes community outreach even more challenging. We help clients communicate the complexities of environmental, health and safety issues and processes to stakeholders. We provide audience and issue analysis, community meeting planning, and risk and crisis communication policy development. We also prepare reader-friendly communication materials to culturally diverse audiences, including technical translation services in Spanish.
Crisis Prevention and Response
Whether it is a naturally occurring health scare or an operations accident, crisis risks exist for all entities. We will work with our clients to help them prepare to respond proactively and not just react. Over the years we have supported clients through all stages of crisis response, from pre-crisis planning to on-the-ground implementation.
Employee Hazard Communication
There is always room for improvement. Our clients continuously analyze their employee safety programs and seek to provide their workers with the best in prevention. Whether the need arises from improved technology or awareness, new agency guidelines or learning from incidents, we can assist. This assistance has included research and epidemiological studies, developing strategies for incorporating better practices and providing informative workshops to employees.
